Synopsis
Can a group of non-specialists make it on Mars?

In March 2018, The Mars Society conducted its 191st experiment in the desert. The seven members of Crew 191 spent two weeks inside the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) and simulated life on the Red Planet. What was different? Crew 191 was made up entirely of non-specialists. Most were from Japan, in the hopes that the Japanese tendency to forge harmonious relationships would best perform under stress. An NHK cameraman was selected as a member, and recorded what happens when seven strangers are thrown into confined isolation, a pressure cooker that overwhelmed and broke many groups in the past.
