Synopsis
Following a family of bears for two years in Japan's "Bear Kingdom"

Japan's Shiretoko Peninsula has become the stronghold of the country's largest land predator, the brown bear. This wild region has become a world leader in brown bear population density.
After the peninsula's bitter winter mother bears wake from their hibernation dens with new-born cubs in tow. The young families must roam far and wide to find food. As the summer takes grip, times get tougher for the brown bears. As food becomes scarce, the tight-knit families are forced to go to extraordinary lengths to survive. Family dynamics are later tested as the cubs embark on their journey to become independent. For the juvenile bears they must learn fast or face starvation in their competitive domain.
