The Most Splendid Book of Hours in the World

Synopsis
A book of singular beauty, hidden away for 600 years, in 8K

NHK's 8K cameras take viewers on a decadent tour of one of the world's most exquisite books. The Very Rich Hours of the Duke of Berry of the Condé Museum is a private "Book of Hours" commissioned by 15th century France's royal patron, John, Duke of Berry. The artwork features lavish use of lapis lazuli and gold, and the most striking pages depict the twelve months of the year. The program weaves together the painted lives of medieval aristocrats and peasants with their parallels in modern-day France, celebrating the eternal joys of the seasons.
