WILDLIFE -- No Time for Sloth: The Sloth Bears of Sri Lanka

The sloth bear, almost never spotted in the wild, is an extremely rare species with a truly unique evolutionary history. They may look as cuddly as a teddy bear, but they are actually fierce animals who are feared for their long sharp claws. In this episode, our crew visited Sri Lanka's oldest national park and followed the lives of young males as well as a mother and her cubs. They were able to film the sloth bear's distinct hunting method of making peculiar noises to catch surprising prey. The crew also captured rare footage of a doting mother carrying her cub on her back in order to protect it from predators.
