38 Minutes

Synopsis
For the first time in history, a vast number of tsunami images were recorded using various means, including mobile phones and live coverage from the air. One 38-minute-long video filmed by an NHK Kamaishi reporter depicts the "lives" and "deaths" of 289 residents of the Hamacho area of Kamaishi City. It shows the tsunami swallowing the town, buildings collapsing in clouds of dust, people soaked in seawater, and people turning back to save their family. This program spells out a record of the hardships faced by residents during the year that has passed since they had to confront the mega-tsunami.
