- The grey-faced buzzard is found in the rural area of Tochigi Prefecture in central Japan. Compared with other birds of prey, the buzzard is not a very skillful hunter. It survives by taking full advantage of its habitat, the "satoyama," forest and land which are blessed with a biodiversity only moderately modified by the human hand. This buzzard feeds on frogs that appear at rice paddies in spring and insects that fill the groves of miscellaneous trees. Hunter in Rural Japan shows the rich chain of life sustained in the "satoyama" by focusing on the survival of the grey-faced buzzard.
