WILDLIFE -- Survival Strategy: Humpback Whale

Recently the unique behavior of humpback whales has been frequently spotted near the Queen Charlotte Islands off the west coast of Canada. With its head down, this huge whale lifts its tail fin out of the water and slaps it down with an enormous splash. The whales even coordinate their movements like synchronized swimmers. The recent decrease in the number of their favorite food, herring, could be an explanation for this strange practice. For the first time ever, the humpback whale's survival strategy is examined from various approaches, as the program covers their behavior from the air, the sea surface, and underwater.
