The unprecedented natural calamities that struck on March 11, 2011 were followed by the turmoil caused by the disaster at the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. These catastrophes have presented all of us here in Japan with challenges that none of us could have possibly imagined. Since the earthquake, NHK has dispatched hundreds of reporters and camera crews to the affected areas to chronicle the aftermath. Already a number of documentaries depicting this catastrophe from various angles have been produced, and more are planned. NHK hopes to share its record of this major historical disaster with as many viewers as possible around the world.
