The Japanese archipelago occupies only 1/400th of the Earth's land mass. Yet, it has been attracting the keen attention of researchers around the world for its diverse nature remaining on the islands despite the population of over 100 million. It is said that 80% of all types of environments that exist on earth can be found on the Japanese islands. This program presents beautiful and unique images of hitherto unknown plant and animal life on the Japanese archipelago through fixed-point observation over a long period of time and the use of the latest equipment such as anti-vibration crane cameras and high-speed cameras.
